Who Started This?

Meet Mr Ravi Agarwal. During his late twenties he suffered from a chronic digestive ailment. Doctors thought he could only manage it with medications. But, after he implemented a suggestion of using Gir Cows’ Milk products, he finally saw improvement. He then became curious to understand the science and biology of our Desi Gir Cows.

Today, that curiosity has become his mission to bring Organic & Sustainable Lifestyle back in trend! He is striving towards bringing the Nurturer - Gir Cows and the Does - Humans closer by defining a Cruelty Free balance.

Hi, My name is Sita, I am from Shaalvi Farms, I think you want to know more about us, let me take you through the journey!

It all started in 1998 - Mr Ravi Agarwal (my favourite person here) bought a tiny piece of land, and brought home 2 beautiful Gir Cows. His strong belief in Gir Cows’ strength was born when the cows had helped him heal his illness. He wanted to nurture this bond, to understand them scientifically, to worship them as providers, and to love them like family!

That was the day, and here we are, Ravi never looked back. Our family of Gir Cows went on becoming larger and larger every year. I know, it sounds dramatic, but well, it’s OUR story!

In the year 2003, Ms Shalu Agarwal - wife of Ravi, also joined us. Coming from a different background, she had her doubts, but she trusted the process, and supported in every manner.

So, we had a great team: Ravi - responsible for cattle breeding, care and organic nutrition, Shalu - responsible for following Vedic Method - Bilona Ghee, and keeping it ALL Natural.

That’s how both the kind souls have followed the principles of ORGANIC and CRUELTY-FREE lifestyle! I know, you guys must be wondering how can Dairy farm ever be cruelty-free? Well, let me tell you how things roll at Shaalvi:

• We all cows are given proper shelter, proper water, ventilation, and resting space.
• We enjoy free grazing for hours every day, and also get to have a varied diet according to our nutritional needs - grains, green fodder, dry fodder, buttermilk, himalayan rock salt, and yes, some sweet treats!
• There is a special care space for pregnant cows and new moms, so they get the besttt relaxing time! (omg, I still remember the day I became a mom, so special!)
• The cows here get pregnant naturally, according to their mating cycles, nothing ever is forced. And yes after the delivery, the babies stay with their mothers, they get as much milk they want from their moms - until they naturally stop with age.
• All of us are free, no chains, no restrictions, only love, care and freedom!

So yes, all this about dairy, what about food? Ravi - the expert mind behind 100% Organic agriculture - scientific, and Shalu - the creative mind to understand seasonal selection of crops.

ALL that is grown on shaalvi farms is with 100% Natural Manure - prepared from Cow Dung, no insecticides, no pesticides, no artificial fertilizers..nope..nothing at all, sab kuch NATURAL! And...and..and… now we also have 3 mares, 2 cute dogs, and a few ducks! Sometimes when people come to see our home, they call it a paradise of kindness!
